the following poem was written by a friend. it's the first poem i read by him. i was very impressed and really enjoy his work...
Painting with Words
I watched…
As she faded in and out
Of her reflection
Gliding across a smooth
Glassy sea framed
By steel and concrete
And weatherworn brick
Watched…
As a raven waterfall
Cascaded down her back
Splashed around her face
And fell
Into shimmering waves
That streamed over shoulders
Confident, focused, and sure
Watched…
As a spot of sunlight
Flirted with her smile
And teased her eyes
And showered her
In warm highlights
Against a backdrop
Of blurred faces
Drawn in frigid hues
Of furrowed brows, curses
And vivid attitudes
Watched…
As her shadow sprinted after
Chased by cat-calls
That screamed lust
In the voice of
A hundred whistles
And quick horn blows
And stolen glances
That stared into her
But did not see her
I watched…
As she vanished
Swallowed by the streets
Swallowed by the buildings
Swallowed by me
As I sit and paint her
With words
